Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation-Derived HAp–Ta₂O₅ Coatings on Ti6Al4V for Biomedical Applications

چکیده :

This study focused on enhancing hydroxyapatite (HAp) coatings by incorporating tantalum pentoxide (Ta₂O₅) nanoparticles at concentrations ranging from 0 to 1.5 g/L into the electrolyte solution. The HAp-Ta₂O₅ composite coatings were applied to Ti6Al4V implants using the plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) technique. While increasing Ta₂O₅ concentration did not significantly alter the phase composition, the addition of 1.5 g/L resulted in a denser and more compact coating. In vitro biocompatibility assessments using the MG-63 cell line demonstrated that Ta₂O₅ incorporation improved cell viability and proliferation. Immunofluorescence imaging confirmed more live cells and fewer dead cells on the composite coatings. These results suggest that the HAp-Ta₂O₅ coatings offer a promising approach to developing bioactive metallic implants with enhanced osteoblast compatibility.
